The physical medicine and rehabilitation center at Benedictine Hospital provides comprehensive recovery services to patients needing additional care. We offer dedicated, full-time rehabilitation services.
Our ten-bed unit boasts a team of highly-trained clinical staff members working in a spacious, serene, family oriented surrounding. The unit is located on the 2nd Spellman floor.
We are committed to giving patients a restorative healing experience, while offering coordinated high-contrast services and information to physicians and insurers who place their trust and their patients in our hands.
We help patients achieve their maximum potential, accelerate convalescence and reduce the length of functional recovery.
What Type Patients Do We Primarily Serve?
We serve those patients with hip/pelvis fractures, total hip replacements, stroke, limb loss, multiple trauma, neurological disorders and lack of conditioning, diabetes, and other major injuries requiring intensive rehabilitation.
Patients with feeding tubes and IV therapy will be accepted, as well as those with chronic appliances or long-term therapy.
When Can Patients Be Admitted?
Patients can generally be admitted within 24-hours on contact, 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturday's.
What Is The Estimated Length Of Stay For Patients?
Most of our patients stay between 10-21 days, but actual length of stay is determined by individual progress.
What Is The Policy On Communication?
We know that physicians and insurers need information and consent updates. We will send weekly progress reports and FAX condition reports Monday through Friday's. We discharge to home care and give estimated dates of discharge. We will work with your vendors to facilitate discharge, and will determine durable medical equipment needs if the patients is discharged to home. We will also facilitate further skilled nursing needs.
How Do You Work With Families?
Benedictine Hospital treats the patient as part of a family group. Families are welcome to visit anytime. Call for information on their loved one, and meet with the treatment team.
Who Is Represented On The Treatment Team and Staff?
Our team includes a neurologist administrative director, rehabilitation registered professional nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech and language therapists, and social workers.
What Physician Consults Will Be Available?
Available consults include general surgery, internal medicine, neurosurgery, opthatmology, orthopedic surgery, oto-rhino-laryngology, plastic surgery, psychiatry, pulmonary medicine, and urology.
